Looking Back, Moving Forward -September 2026

As we get closer to the final quarter of 2026, it is a great opportunity to reflect on what has been happening across Shore Trust. It has been a busy few months, with new people joining us, improvements to our homes, plenty of community activities, and some very special opportunities to come together.

Welcome to Our New Team Members

We are delighted to welcome Lale, Zara, Wenting and Jin to the Shore Trust team. We hope you enjoy being part of our community and look forward to the skills, ideas and energy you will bring to the people we support and to the wider team.

We also warmly welcome Emma Bale, a prominent People and Capacity/ HR Manager , who has joined the Shore Trust Board. Thank you for giving your time and expertise to Shore Trust and supporting our organisation into the future.

Improving Our Homes

There has been plenty happening around our homes.

Nile Road is undergoing another significant renovation, with the second bathroom now being upgraded. A big thank you to Bryan and Frans from Capri Construction for their ongoing support and for providing Shore Trust with a discounted charity rate. This makes a real difference and helps us continue improving the homes of the people we support. Thank you to the Team and residents for moving to a nearby house for the next few days. 

At Belmont, all the curtains have been replaced with new drapes. It may sound like a simple change, but the result has been fantastic; the house feels brighter, fresher, and more welcoming.

Pottery Workshop : A Weekly Highlight

Our pottery workshop continues to be one of the highlights of the week. It has been wonderful to see the creativity, concentration and enjoyment that comes from working with clay and creating something by hand.

These activities are about much more than the finished pieces. They provide opportunities for creativity, learning, participation and achievement – and, importantly, having fun together.

Out and About in Our Community

Shore Trust residents have been busy getting out and about and exploring a range of activities in the community. Being part of the wider community, trying new experiences and maintaining individual interests remain an important part of everyday life at Shore Trust.

Our Family Event

On 7 July, we held our Shore Trust family event, with 38 people attending.

It was a relaxed and enjoyable gathering, giving residents, families and the team an opportunity to share some food, catch up and simply spend time together. There was plenty of conversation, and even a little dancing!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such an enjoyable occasion.

Our Shore Trust Survey is now underway.

Good Records, Better Support

Disability Support Services (DSS) has recently reinforced the importance of good record keeping within disability services, and we have shared this guidance with our team.

Clear, accurate and respectful records are an important part of providing safe, consistent and person-centred support. We will continue working with our team to strengthen this area as part of our ongoing commitment to quality improvement.

Thank You to Our Leaders and Team

A special thank you goes to our Shore Trust leaders, Rachel, Lorenzo and Jai. Their commitment and hard work behind the scenes help our teams achieve so much every day.

And, of course, thank you to our entire Shore Trust team. It is the collective effort of our staff  that keeps Shore Trust moving forward and makes a difference in the lives of the people we support.

Farewell to Gem

We also say goodbye to Gem from People & Culture, who has been a valued support to Shore Trust and our staff.

Thank you, Gem, for all your support and contribution. We wish you every success in your next chapter.

Shore Trust will continue working with People & Culture as our HR partner, and Melanie will be taking over the support previously provided by Gem. We look forward to working with Melanie.

Looking Ahead

With the final quarter of 2026 approaching, there is still plenty ahead of us.

Our focus remains simple: supporting people to live good lives, strengthening their connection with their community, maintaining welcoming homes, supporting our staff, listening to families and continually looking for ways to improve.

28^th November (12pm-3pm) will be Shore Trust AGM and Christmas party; more detailed information will be sent to you closer to the event. 

Thank you to our residents, families, staff, Board members and everyone who contributes to Shore Trust. Every improvement – whether it is a renovated bathroom, a new activity, a piece of pottery, a conversation with a family member, or a better way of working, contributes to the bigger picture.

We look forward to finishing 2026 strongly, together.
