Mary Smith

Mary has been part of Shore Trust in a number of roles on the Trust Board since 1992.  Her husband’s brother Gordon was one of the six foundation residents at Belmont Terrace, and Mary and John have had significant involvement over the years. Until she retired Mary worked in education and, after completing a degree, worked for the Ministry of Education facilitating ongoing resourcing and quality service provision for children and young people with special education needs in schools across New Zealand. Many years of travel has been a highlight for Mary and her family and they have enjoyed travelling to other countries and meeting new people. Shore Trust will always be part of Mary’s life and she has a strong belief in the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
